MEET OUR AMAZING FOUNDERS

In 1998, Pastor Larry Davies had a dream and he shared it with his wife Sharon. He wanted to create his own award show that would recognize independent gospel artist for the excellence they demonstrated through their music and their ministry. For years,  he had worked with radio stations in San Antonio, Texas, San Diego, California, Norfolk, Virgina and Gaeta, Italy.. He also had served as a promoter for mainstream and independent gospel artist  and worked with record labels as well. Prior to 1998, Pastor Davies worked on an award show in the Houston area, and it had moderate success but after a few years it fizzled out. 

After much prayer and discussion, the Texas Gospel Music Excellence Awards were birth and for the last 25 years, the dream has grown from a statewide award show to an international show. Pastor Davies experiences and contacts around the country were essential to its successful start. Sharon , his wife and co-founder, administrative skills and experiences in the corporate world have played an important role in the success.

They have put together a staff that strives for excellence and believe that God is the priority but loving and caring about people make the difference when organizing an event. Through growth, they also saw the need to create ambassadors to share the message all over the country and now the world. These ambassadors support the event through recommendations and nominations of music and artist to be considered and recognized. Over the next few days, you will get an opportunity to get to know them get their feelings about the celebration in February 2023

When asked about the 25th Anniversary that is approaching, you automatically get a smile on their face. As they began to talk about where they started and where they are now, praises to God  automatically come forth because they talk about how they overcame obstacles and life situations to get the awards where they are but have continuously seen growth because they have kept it about the main thing, Glorifying God and Rewarding people and ministries that strive for excellence.
